Paper Printing Matrix & SNI Paper Size

The paper industry in Indonesia, uses a standard known as SNI (Indonesian National Standard) for paper size and weight. SNI norms refer to ISO (International Standard Organization) based in America. ISO was established since 1947.

In Germany, the metrics for paper types and raw materials and other products are established by DIN (Dutch Standard Norma), established in 1922.

The paper size in the ISO system uses a fixed width and fixed ratio of 1: V2. Example: The width of a paper size is 1189 mm then its length = 1189 x V2 = 1682 So the paper size is 1189 x 1682 mm.

With this ISO system has created a variation of the size of the so-called series. The series that has been determined are the A series, B series, C series and D series.

The following describes several variations in size and usefulness;

Size A

For offset and Print Digital print sizes:

  • A0 = 841 x 1189 mmA
  • A1 = 594 x 841 mmA
  • A2 = 420 x 594 mmA
  • A3 = 297 x 420 mmA
  • A4 = 210 x 297mm, dst.

From these measurements can be made a rough measure, ie the size to obtain the correct piece of paper cut. The rough size developed and the size above is RA

Size B

Set for poster type printing and other large molding products:

  • B0 = 1000 x 1414 mm
  • B1 = 707 x 1000 mm
  • B2 = 500 x 707 mm
  • B3 = 353 x 500 mm
  • B4 = 250x 353 mm, dst.

Size C

Standard sizes are made for the purposes of envelopes, postcards, and other printed materials. Series C is developed relating to series A inserts to C series, for example the A4 series can be incorporated into C4 series envelopes.

  • C0 = 917 x 1297 mm
  • Cl = 648 x 917 mm
  • C2 = 458 x 648 mm
  • C3 = 324 x 458 mm
  • C4 = 229 x 324 mm, dst.

Size D

Defined for printed matter.

  • Dl = 771 x 1090 mm
  • D2 = 545 x 771 mm
  • D3 = 385 x 545 mm
  • D4 = 272 x 385 mm, dst.

Determining the size from the top to the size below it is by dividing the length and size above it while the width remains:

An example of A2 size (420 x 594 mm) to A3. 594: 2 = 297, so the size of A3 is 297 x 420. When in division there is a number behind komamaka the number is omitted. Example and A0 (841 x 1189 mm) to Al should be 841 x 594.5 mm to 841 x 594 mm
